This journal is intended to be my faith, politics and popular culture blog. I personally consider myself a Christian (though the Christian Right would disagree with me on that one as I don't believe that non-Christians are going to hell), and that deeply informs my takes on spirituality, politics and social issues. But my Christianity is rather eclectic and hybrid, informed by modern biblical studies, by my journeys with and through neo-Paganism and my family's continuing practice in that path, and by my experience of the complexity of God's creation both biologically and spiritually. So you won't find conventional doctrinalism or dogma here! Also, while I'm definitely coming from a decidedly Left of centre perspective, informed by my own experiences of sexism, ableism and poverty, I also understand the desire to preserve "traditional" values and ways of living. So you'll find me trying to navigate between these two understandings/perspectives, and, hopefully, trying to open up a space for dialogue between them. I'll be sharing my own thoughts in the form of articles/essays and reflections, plus reviews of books, movies and shows that I find meaningful/moving/inspiring/just plain awesome. So I hope you'll enjoy what's here!
